Liverpool could have Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Muñoz back for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at Anfield, although neither player has yet been confirmed available.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Andoni Iraola said both players have a chance of returning, with two days still remaining to assess their fitness.
“I think they have a chance. They have a chance. But I don’t know for sure if they will be involved or not. We still have two days so I think we have a chance, yes.”
Szoboszlai and Muñoz still being assessed
Szoboszlai has been dealing with a hamstring problem and last featured against Brentford on 17 October, having previously missed time with the same issue.
His return would strengthen Liverpool’s midfield options against Mikel Arteta’s side, but Iraola’s update stops short of confirming he will be involved.
Muñoz, meanwhile, has been sidelined with a knee injury sustained during the win over Brentford. The winger subsequently missed the matches against Villarreal, Brighton and Chelsea.
For both players, the next two days will be key. There is a possibility of a return to the squad, but supporters will have to wait for confirmation.
More options for the Arsenal test
Liverpool head into Sunday’s meeting on the back of five consecutive wins across all competitions. The visit of reigning Premier League champions Arsenal presents another significant test.
Having Szoboszlai and Muñoz available would give Iraola more options as the Reds look to keep that run going at Anfield.
For now, the message is cautiously encouraging: both players have a chance, but neither is guaranteed to feature.
